wish compile grub 2 in order make plymouth or kind of working. skill in treatibg items poor , grub @ stake. i've learned not resolutions accepted grub2. in fact first time tryed result blocked grub. no way enter other partitions. format again ext4 partitions. know i've made errors, , hope me avoid repeat them.
describe i'm gong step step.

1. exchange vesafb uvesafb installing v86d.

2. sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
change [# grub_cmdline_linux_default="quiet splash"]
[grub_cmdline_linux_default="quiet splash nomodeset video=uvesafb:mode_option=1280x800-24,mtrr=3,scroll=ywrap"]
add [grub_gfxmode=1680x1050]
note: guide warns me avoid string grub_gfxpayload_linux=keep , i'll comment out it. save grub.

3.sudo gedit /etc/initramfs-tools/modules
add[uvesafb mode_option=1680x1050-24 mtrr=3 scroll=ywrap] save initramfs

4.from terminal do: [echo framebuffer=y | sudo tee /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/splash] should use uvesa frame buffer.

5. finally:
[sudo update-grub2
sudo update-initramfs -u] , reboot.
in view these steps right or i'm going damage again grub2?
thaks in advance.
enrico
