Missing MSVCR71.dll Error Message During Launch

i wanted pass along error message have found solution , have passed onto adobe through bug submission process.

i have discovered quicktime component causes adobe encore cs5 give error message during launch.  the error message states “the file msvcr71.dll not found. please reinstall adobe encore resolve problem” (well, close that.  i did not write down error message before fixing problem).  there “ok” button below message continue loading adobe encore.

the error message displayed if other cs5 programs closed.  during findings, discovered if open adobe encore cs5 through premiere pro cs5 or after effects cs5 using dynamic link, error message not displayed.

the quicktime component causes error message “xiphqt”, used play xiph formats in quicktime based application.  the component can located here: http://www.xiph.org/quicktime/

when installing latest version of program “juicer” digital juice, quicktime component installed.  juicer run without component, gives message missing.  i have removed component since use encore greater extent.

to remove xiphqt component quicktime, must remove manually because when quicktime uninstalled, component left behind , part of future installations of quicktime.

while error message displayed during launch of adobe encore cs5 not detrimental, can frustrating, hope may others receive error message above.  should note using windows 7 home premium.

my solution attributable firewall (microsoft defender) blocking tcp connections qucktime.  here's steps resolved problems on cs5, windows 7, 64 bit:

 

control panel

windows firewall

advanced settings

outbound rules

new rule...

program/next

this program path:  (use windows explorer search)

c:\program files (x86)\adobe\adobe bridge cs5\msvcr71.dll

allow connection

(leave checks domain, private, public)/next

name description: (whatever - display @ top of windows firewall advanced security outbound rules)
