have experienced various issues before-hand particular computer. "low graphics mode" "kernel panic". computer slow , lot of applications such "cpu scaling" not work sufficiently. ive put lot of time laptop , through trial , plenty more error success, i'm ready laptop running computers install ubuntu on. ive done numerous instillations on several desktops, laptops, , few notebooks. i'm heavy promoter, refuse install computers intel 855 chip-sets *like mine* because later learned personal experience not run properly. not have room error.. want highly acquainted ubuntu experience. forward getting these issues resolved. thank sincerely in advance.

i think biggest problem small amount of ram have; 492mb not enough performance seem wanting , expecting. sort of speed appear want, suggest upgrade memory whatever maximum mb accept. pretty give best return on money spent, , if system @ full ram capacity, other things have little effect.

graphics problems speak of down intel video chip, i915 : intel graphics, , there few things ensure chip running, including making sure have boot option i915 modeset=0 added kernel line in grub overcome kms problem of karmic. have @ https://wiki.ubuntu.com/x/kernelmodesetting more info.

apart can't see can do. there few hardware changes can sensibly make laptop, other ram, , spend bit, if possible.
