Thread: Laptop overheating... where do I start?

my laptop running lucid overheating. when happens, makes angry, loud buzzing noise , screen either goes black or glitches nes game, , have manually power down. have dell inspiron came windows 7; it's 6 months old. don't think had problem until updated lucid, have coincided ridiculously hot weather we've been having in pittsburgh, i'm not sure how pin down when started. doesn't happen--length of time computer on varies. doesn't happen @ all. pretty sure it's happened on hot days.

what i've tried:
once mentioned when put ubuntu on laptop, overheated because needed bios make ubuntu regulate heat correctly. googled this, , didn't find seemed helpful.
last time happened, waited few moments , turned on, , ran "sensors" terminal. reported 28 degrees celsius. have no concept of how warm should be, husband says there's no way cool, judging touch.
i've cleaned heat vents , elevated laptop make sure vents on bottom had access airflow.

appreciated.

just test if cpu overheating,(sounds else) put under load, makes produce more heat.

this, run these 2 commands in terminal:
code:
sudo apt-get install pi pi 100000000
trying calculate pi 100millionth digit should keep under load long time. close terminal window make stop.
