Can't open Canon 7D CR2 files in Bridge

i have photoshop , bridge cs4 running on imac.  purchased canon 7d (great, btw),.  unfortunately bridge , photoshop can't open files.  error message says photoshop can't recognize type of file.  can convert them tiff, jpg, etc using other programs, i'd rather not have conversion.

 

any advise on correcting error?

it sounds running older version of adobe camera raw plug-in.  camera model not supported in versions 5.5 , earlier of adobe camera raw. 

 

you need upgrade acr 5.7, last version of acr run cs4.

 

use auto updater in menu of photoshop.  if doesn't work whatever reason, download acr 5.7 amnually , install according instructions.  please note path correct location starts root level library, not user library.
