Fastest settings for a MacBook Pro?

iv'e got macbook pro 2.4 ghz 4 gigs of ram. not ideal know should enough work in ps without hassle.

iv'e purchased cs5 , noticing big hit in speed compared cs3. zooming around image , painting on layer masks take lot longer normal , have wait machine catch im doing. saving takes lot longer too.

my question this: based on system best possible option out of cs5?

iv'e got ram can machine thinking of partitioning hd crate dedicated scratch disk. fast drive (7200rpm, 120gig ) how big should make scratch disk, , how room should leave os?

i have 8gig lexar ssd express card slides express port slot. viable option scratch disk or not big/fast enough?

aside hardware specs, settings in photoshop itslef? ps got 70% of ram allocated it, 10 history states, 4 cache levels , cache tile size is1024k work raw files , maybe 10-30 layers. open gl drawing on flick panning.  of need changed?  gpu nvidia geforce 8600m gt 256mb.

all software , os date , don't have other programs running aside mail.

thanks input. appreciated.

don't.  you'll gain absolutely nothing, 1 set of read/write heads on 1 drive still limit same.  long have single drive, much better off leaving unpartitioned.

a better idea external firewire drive dedicated scratch drive.

my primary scratch drive second internal, physically separate, dedicated 160gb drive.  have desktop 4 internal drives , 3 external firewire drives.  sorry, can't offer further advice running photoshop on laptop, have full sympathy.
