[CS3] Indexing, sort order and spaces
hi,
can tell me if it's possible indexing in cs3 treat space significant character in terms of sort order. example:
if i've got 2 names, cilla black , tony blackburn phrases 'black , white', 'black mountain' , word 'blacken' expect find entries in order
black , white
black, cilla
black mountain
blackburn, tony
blacken
in other words 'black<space>' comes before 'blacka' in turn comes before 'blackb' , on. i've checked indexes in number of books , kind of thing.
but in indesign, topics come out in order
black , white
blackburn, tony
black, cilla
blacken
black mountain
so seems ignoring comma , space , sorting though
blackandwhite
blackburntony
blackcilla
blacken
blackmountain
is there way stop doing short of setting specific sort key values (e.g. black1, black2, black3) highly broken if add further items index?
thanks.
indesign sorts indexes letter letter, while want word word -- details, see http://www.kahrel.plus.com/indesign/sort.html
unfortunately, can't change behaviour in indesign itself. using sorter in link can choose sort strategy. sorter, way, paragraph sorter, if have subtopics you'd have combine topics , subtopics 1 paragraph, sort, resore subtopics. it's not ideal (and slow), @ least gives result want (or close one, anyway).
