Thread: Problem with grub
my netbook crashed while trying save open office doc in old word format. after forcing reboot, got grub rescue prompt. tried going through grub rescue mode commands in ubuntu documentation, kept getting "unknown filesystem". after running boot info scripts can see there problem filesystem in sda1, have no idea how fix this. appreciated!
results of boot info scripts below , attached.

yeah, appears have repair filesystem on sda1. aware @ times may lose lot of data during repair process. so, advisable make copy of either partition or whole disk tool "ddrescue" try other methods recover more data later on:
http://www.gnu.org/software/ddrescue....html#examples
once done (or if decide take risk , skip it), run following commands livecd or liveusb
if gives errors, run:code:sudo e2fsck -c0 -p -f -v /dev/sda1
finally, reboot.code:sudo e2fsck -f -y -v /dev/sda1
