Thread: Best way to use Ubuntu on a brand new Macbook Pro?
i have 4 years experience ubuntu, 0 macbooks.
try , install ubuntu on mint new macbook pro of (community) documentation, stickies , faqs have me scared.
1) best way run ubuntu on macbook?
a)full (internal) dual boot
b)usb/sd/external live/full install
c)virtualisation (virtualbox? parallels? vmware fusion?)
2)the community documentation says half things not expected work out of box, why? works fine on new laptops of manufacturers. different here?
3)i keep reading conflicting opinion on whether or not possible boot off external usb hdd/flash drive/sd card. not possible @ all, possible guid or whatever , other says possible hybrid mbr. what's bottom line here, or not doable?
not going seamless , smooth installing on normal pc

hi
went through process best dual boot refit. , use mac osx internal partitioning tool.
guide great - follow steps , go.

if don't want install windows skip step , make 3 partitions os x, root , linux swap.
after installed ubuntu follow steps (depending on macbook pro model) here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/macbookpro
found fan control issues witch swedishwings macfanctl takes care of pretty well.
i never used os x before process easy if not easier installing on regular pc (at least when multi booting).this not going seamless , smooth installing on normal pc
let me know if need help.
