Thread: 9.04 ok but 10.04 hangs on Toshiba Sat M200

hi all, can here.....

have searched can't find similar problem posted sorry if missed it...
should hardware person primarily, , while have had little bit of 'play' ubuntu in past, still begginer, please try keep suggestions noob level of instruction. assume know nothing , can't go wrong.....

now......
have little toshiba satellite m200 came vista (ugggh!) needless vista has fallen on own huge feet , landed in scrambled pile. have mnaged copy off data needed, , tossed between xp or ubuntu re-install. decided go ubuntu try , used on single machine before (hopefully) changing on rest of computers here m$ free.

so.......
booted m200 live-cd of 9.04 had while , ran fine. ok, looks far.
checked latest version , downloaded/burned live-cd of 10.04 ran fine on m200 when booted it.
istalled 10.04 live-cd after initial reboot (and boot attempts since then) computer hung while still loading (before reached gui) , had corrupted screen, lines, coloured blocks etc.....

wiped 10.04 , installed 9.04 instead , running.
9.04 install went fine, rebooted , still worked did updates wanted to, rebooted, still fine.
after reboot offered upgrade 9.10, did that, rebooted.
seemed fine while booting, , made way gui, touchpad no longer worked.
plugged in usb mouse , worked, find no way touchpad working again.
in end blew-away 9.10 , again reinstalled 9.04 , did updates, stopped before upgrading 9.10.

state of m200 @ stage, running stable on 9.04, although wireless network sems keep dropping out reason , not reconnecting.

try 10.04 , running of (love loading screen), new communications arrangement ims etc, , seriously, whats point of installing older version of os when prefer latest one?

can give me info on why 10.4 run fine live-cd fall on when installed? thinking display drivers or something, configured , set on full installation, have no idea how work around this.

on side note, booted desktop 10.04 disk , seems happy except wont go above 800x600 screen res, solved full installation can set display drivers etc?

ok, i've been doing little more "playing" , discovered interesting fact.

10.04 did not stop working once installed, stopped working when plugged in power!

10.04 live-cd boot , run fine long don't have power plugged laptop, plug in screen goes corrupt , machine hangs.

, little tid-bit of info....
9.04 (installed or live-cd) can not use wireless network 10.04 (live-cd tested @ stage) can.
