Force the Student to go slide by slide

i'm new captivate , learning way around 5. i've found 1 slide can set slide properties / action / on exit "no action."  when that, slide fades out @ end of slide time learner can still press next button i've added.  however, on slide (all settings same far can tell) slide advance automatically when time up.

 

are there other ways i'm not seeing?

 

my ultimate goal have each slide display until user clicks (added) next button, ensure paying attention , course moving @ right pace them.

 

is best practice set each slide time hour if called away, won't advance far?

a button pauses slide until user clicks on button. pause occurs on moment decide in timing region of properties panel of button. here screenshots, , try explain using example

on timeline see slide duration of 4 sec. there button on slide, labeled 'nextbutton' (will explain properties later on), text caption 'hellocaption', appearing after 0.1sec duration of 3.9sec , text caption 'invisiblecaption' not there @ start of slide (hence label invisible) appear after 2.3 sec , stay rest of slide.

 

nextbutton pauses slide @ 2sec (watch highlighted portion of timeline) , waits user click. if play project (not slide, use project or in web browser preview method, 'from slide') see stops (pause) , @ moment caption invisiblecaption not yet seen. depending on properties of nextbutton, caption never seen if attribute action 'jump next slide' button. if attribute action 'continue' button, playhead first finish whole timeslide, see invisiblecaption , when slide finished, go on next slide. here screenshot of nextbutton properties (with relevant regions expanded - put transition on no transition because fading perhaps confuse exact timing).

ps: there no need make slides long. have slides longer 10sec, unless of course there audio on slide because duration of audio have synchronized slide duration.
