i'm brand new ubuntu , linux. inherited computer locked vista operating system decided blank slate ubuntu installation.
i'm getting error message ubuntu starts thing:
busybox v1.13.3 (ubuntu 1:1.13.3-1uuntu11) built-in shell (ash)
enter 'help' list of built-in commands.
(initramfs) mount: mounting /dev/loop0 on //filesystem.squashfs failed: input/output error
can not mount /dev/loop0 (/cdrom/casper/filesystem.squashfs) on //filesystem.squashfs

should mention got error once already, , thought maybe existing partitions on hard disk might getting in way, used "killdisk" erase drives , start scratch. had change sata operation "ahci" "ata" killdisk boot cd work. have since reverted ahci.
computer dell intel core 2 duo 3.0 ghz processor.
i've done basic vba programming , can write pretty complicated spreadsheets that's extent of knowledge. have little hardware experience , have never used linux before [except on android smartphone, haha] , never on back-end please patient if don't understand you're asking me do.

i spoke friend on phone earlier said error i'm getting sounds cd i'm using image didn't write or maybe having conflict cd drive of destination computer. suggested writing ubuntu iso file @ lowest speed possible , trying again.
on right track? guy knows more don't know enough trust he's saying.
