Fireworks CS5: Silent crash without warning

i'm running win xp sp3 on pretty decent system. every often, fw cs5 crash without warning. there seems no pattern crashes. can using select tool, applying filter, or choosing tool palette. system pauses second, , fireworks disappears. no error message. nothing.

 

i save pretty often, since fw doesn't auto-backups, lose few minutes of work if haven't saved recently. since upgrading cs5 i've lost 5-10 hours of work total. 10 minutes here , there adds up. know. whaaa. fault not saving every time perform action. or it? saving large file every 30 seconds can time-consuming, , disrupts workflow. illustrator doesn't this, , indesign doesn't it. (in fact, can't remember illustrator crashing several versions now.)

 

is there patch yet fw cs5? can't find one. there log somewhere crashes recorded? nothing shows in xp event viewer.

 

i still have fireworks mx 2004 installed on machine, , use half time. maybe should uninstall cs5 , use old macromedia version time. cs5 adds nice features it's causing me lose work, , therefore time, , therefore money.

seriously, can't 1 experiencing problem.

 

i found cs5 service log it's not helpful. time match recent crash, though.
