Issue with Dreamweaver CS3 Check username behavior

let me start saying i'm not developer, , may in over  head on project i'm working on.

 

i'm creating a  page register new user's information aa access user table. i've  created registration form, , added insert record behavior. that  works fine, no problems. however, when add check new user  behavior, strange results.

 

if new  username valid (not duplicate), form processes , goes my  "thank registering" page. great.

 

if new  username not valid, behavior redirects "sorry, pick a  different username" page. great.

 

when user goes  registration page change user name , tries to  submit form, , error message appears thet connection  (mm_rskey) still open. when @ code (with limited  knowledge of actual code), looks behavior doesn't close the  connection unless selected user name valid. if redirect  happens, , user goes registration form page, the  connection hasn't been closed, , form won't process.

 

i've  tried splitting registration 2 parts... created form  user name field , submit button, thinking i'll just  make second part of process update, additional  information added existing record matches user name,  still no joy.

 

i checked see if code  closes connection resides on redirect page, don't  think that's case.

 

i'm missing some  simple step, can't seem figure out.

the rskey recordset should close @ end of check code block regardless of outcome.  there, or did somehow moved elsewhere, such end of page.

 

also check make sure code comes before insert code.

 

i've never run problem, maybe because don't redirect them original registration page - have duplicate registration page oops message on top.  perhaps not efficient, saves users click.
